Escuela Bella vista is lucky to have our full-time, qualified physician. EBV is committed to providing health services for its students, staff, and community. The health service program integrates the student's development with his or her well being. There is close teamwork among all the student services.

The health service program includes a clinic, the physical structure where the health service functions. It is equipped with medical instruments, medications, and first aid supplies. The person responsible for the health service is our physician.

The physician carries out the following activities:

  • Keeps all the students' health records.
  • Keeps an accurate morbidity record.
  • Conducts a physical examination of all students once a year.
  • Consults daily with students who need regular care.
  • Meets and shares information with the parents.
  • Meets regularly and communicates with the other services such as guidance, special needs, and other staff members for case and strategies discussions.
  • Meets with the personnel of food services.
  • Handles referrals from the health service to guidance, special needs, or outside agencies as needed.

Case of Injury or Illness

The school physician is responsible for the implementation of the plan and for determining the severity of the illness or injury. The plan consists of two levels both for illness and injuries:

Level I These are the cases that can be managed and solved by the physician with the supplies and instruments at the school clinic.

  1. The parents are called and informed about the situation.
  2. The teacher is informed.
  3. Depending on the severity of the situation, the principal and/or the superintendent are informed.
  4. All illnesses or injuries are registered in a general morbidity record and in the personal record of the student.

Level II When the illness or injury requires specialized care:

  1. The parents are called and informed.
  2. The teacher is informed.
  3. Depending on the severity of the case, the principal and/or the superintendent are informed.
  4. Depending on the severity of the case, an ambulance emergency system is made available (as part of the health service) to transfer the student or staff member to the hospital.
  5. Also, the school has insurance for accidents.
