Meet The Teacher
Charlie Nicholas aka Charles Perry Nicholas aka Mr. Charlie aka Mr.Nic
Born and raised in western North Carolina , I was surrounded by a culture of crafts, fine arts and music not to mention a beautifully ideal landscape. After studying at the North Carolina School of the Arts I was accepted to the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore , Maryland where I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting, with concentrations in printmaking and Art history. In my third year of study in Baltimore I took a scholarship to study in Florence Italy . In Italy began my love for travel and my interest in teaching. In 1998 I returned to Italy completing a master's degree in painting with a full teaching assistantship. Dr. Margie Elhage hired me to teach in Curacao in 2001. After three years in Curacao I left for Cyprus with my beautiful new wife and a real confidence in my teaching abilities. Now my wife Bobbi and I are back close to Curacao in Maracaibo , Venezuela teaching at Escuela Bella Vista. The paintings drawing and prints I continue to make are about people and the way they interact. My teaching influences my work and my work influences my teaching.
