School Psychologist

The School Psychologist services the Elementary School students. The main goal of the School Psychologist is to help children succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. In order to achieve this goal, the School Psychologist collaborates with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students, in the following ways:

  • Consultation: of individuals and groups. The School Psychologist offers counseling and brief psychological orientation to students and their parents. If the issues that the affect the student or parent are considered to be of a more complex nature or affects the student in more areas of life, the School Psychologist will direct and refer the student to an outside specialist.
  • Evaluation: the School Psychologist participates in comprehensive evaluations to determine eligibility for special services and is also in charge of Admission Testing.
  • Intervention: the School Psychologist intervenes to help resolve student’s issues that interfere with school performance.
  • Prevention: Coordinates the implementation of the character education program (Core Essentials) and collaborates in parent sessions.
