Physical Education Philosophy
We believe that Physical Education is a time in the student’s day where they do not have to sit and be quiet, a time in their day that through exposure to a wide variety of activities, students will gain an understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We believe that a Physically Educated person fits the description defined by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) where by they; have learned skills necessary to perform a variety of physical activities, are physically fit, participate regularly in physical activity, know t he implications of and the benefits from involvement in physical activities and value physical activity and its contribution to a healthful lifestyle. They furthermore value and display sportsmanship, cooperation, being a member of a team, self-discipline, respect and responsibility for themselves.
Physical Education Essential Agreements
- Each class, warm-up activities will be performed before activities begin.
- Each unit will allow students to learn and practice basic specific sport skills.
- The PE Department will present physical activities which are both team and individual.
- The PE Department will present activities which involve: using a wide range of tools, balls, paddles, bats, etc.
- The PE Department will present units and activities that involve all elements of the components of fitness
